I went to a local office supply store that allows customers to create their own right there on the spot. That didn’t work out too well though. My design looked generic. So, I went home and decided to try my hand at it on an online site that has a ton of templates and walks people through it step by step. Well, that too was a major fail. I just could not get everything together just right. I was avoiding the pitfalls of poor design by not going with a lot of clutter on the card, and also by not using a large logo. I just could not get it though. I needed to have name cards, so I knew my only other option was to go to a professional graphic designer. The only reason I had resisted this up to that point is because I knew it would cost me a good bit of money. I learned something though, and that is to not make assumptions on things I don’t really know much about. The first thing I did when I found the company I wanted to create my name cards was find out their prices. The quote I was given really surprised me, and it made me want to kick myself too. I had spent needless time and energy, along with money, trying to save money, when the designer I used was already inexpensive. Not only that, but they are also extremely competent. They were able to design a name card for me that was exactly the look I wanted, without knowing that! I am going to use them for any other graphic design work I may need in the future!
